The authors consider two techniques to avoid factorization breakdown in the incomplete Cholesky factorization algorithm: Jennings-Malik and Tismenetsky semidefinite modifications schemes. They provide new theoretical results and compare the 2-norms of the modifications to \(A\) that each approach makes.
