The authors study a parabolic system arising from a thermomechanical model. A time discretization of the system that is adapted to the nonlinearities in the problem is introduced. For the time-discretization scheme it is shown that the discrete solutions converge to the solution of the initial problem as the time step tends to zero. Error estimates and regularity results are also given.
