Peter Peregrinus of Maricourt was a 13th-century French scholar who conducted experiments on magnetism and wrote the first extant treatise describing the properties of magnets. Peregrinus' text on the magnet is entitled in many of the manuscripts of \textit{Epistola Petri Peregrini de Maricourt ad Sygerum de Foucaucourt, militem, de magnete} (``Letter of Peter Peregrinus of Maricourt to Sygerus of Foucaucourt, soldier, on the magnet'') but it is more commonly known by its short title, \textit{Epistola de magnete} (``Letter on the magnet''). This work was very popular but there are few testimonies about its use during the Middle Ages. The paper under review deals with an anonymous treatise written in the 14th century in Oxford by someone who knew the theory of motion of Bradwardine. The present paper also contains several problems concerning the magnetic attraction.
