This paper deals with the military mathematicians Pedro de Lucuce y Ponce (1692--1779) and Diego de Torres Villarroel (1694--1770), their lives and their education in the military institutions and their scientific work in detail. Also, a survey about the Royal and Military Academy in Mathematics at Barcelona (in particular the School of Engineers there) and a list of directors is provided; the education there is treated as well. A similar treatment is given here to the Royal Military Society in Mathematics at Madrid.
