This is a paper on the foundations of physics. It presents a topical review on generalized probabilistic theories, which provides a unified theoretical framework in which classical and quantum theory emerge as special cases. Quantum theory is a mysterious theory and here we have another road which could be taken by Zarathustra. The authors begin with a long section on generalized probabilistic theories for single systems, and then go on with some examples such as the so-called gbit, followed by various expansions on non-classical restrictions, multipartite systems, and non-local correlations.
