The concept of Milnor fibre, Milnor number and \(\delta\)--invariant for curve germs on surface quotient singularities is developed. These invariants can be effectively computed in terms of embedded \(Q\)--resolutions. A formula for the genus of a curve in the weighted projective plane in terms of its degree and the local type of its singularities is given.
