In this paper, one examines (with new points of view) the Landauer principle (related to the erasure of one bit of information in quantum computation) in the framework of recent results in the mathematical theory of open systems, and one compares with the Reeb and Wolf derivation of this principle. One considers only microscopic Hamiltonian models. After a background on Reeb and Wolf approach, the entropy balance equation in quantum statistical mechanics and its implication on Landauer principle are displayed. Then one come across the Landauer principle for instantaneously switched interactions and for adiabatically switched interactions.
