The action of a locally distributed dynamical load on a thin plate is studied in this paper. A fundamental solution of the dynamical plate equation is constructed for the orthotropic case. This solution is represented by a series with respect to special functions of hypergeometric type. Then components of the strain tensor are computed. The normal deflection of a thin orthotropic plate is studied for a sudden application of load. The case when the load is distributed in a circular domain is considered in detail.
