This paper extends the setting of metric abstract elementary classes to give an abstract setting for dealing with perturbations of metric structures. The main motivation for this work is to utilize the fact that the stability-theoretic behavior of some structures can improve if they are considered only up to perturbations, e.g. some structures can go from being non-superstable to \(\omega\)-stable if they are considered up to perturbation. The article uses the developed abstract setting to develop a nice notion of independence in theories that are \(\omega\)-stable up to perturbation. They also give two examples of their theory: Hilbert spaces and atomic Nakano space are \(\omega\)-stable up to perturbation.
