The author studies entropy solutions of the multidimensional scalar balance law NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\partial_t u+\mathrm{Div}\,f(t,x,u)=F(t,x,u), \;(t,x)\in (0,+\infty)\times\mathbb{R}^N.NEWLINE\]NEWLINE The main results of the paper are the revised estimates of total variation of the solution and \(L^1\)-distance between solutions. These estimates are given in terms of the flux \(f\) and the source \(F\) and improve the previous estimates obtained by \textit{R.\,M.~Colombo, M.~Mercier} and \textit{M.\,D.~Rosini} [Commun. Math. Sci. 7, No.~1, 37--65 (2009; Zbl 1183.35197)].
