Estimates of approximation in terms of a weighted modulus of continuity (English)

Considering a specific weighted modulus of continuity, denoted by \(\omega_{\varphi}(f,h),\) the author characterizes the class of functions \(f\) for which \(\omega_{\varphi}(f,h)\to 0\) as \(h\to 0\). As applications, quantitative estimates are obtained for Szász-Mirakjan operators and Baskakov operators by means of the introduced weighted modulus of continuity.
