Correlated electrons in quantum matter. (English)

This more than five hundred page book is a textbook on the field of correlated electrons which appears to be of paramount importance in the study of an increasing number of materials. Electronic correlations in molecules and solids are the keys to understand the properties of quantum materials, and the book intends to give a comprehensive overview on this topic. There are two special topics which are stressed, namely the wavefunction-based methods on the one hand, and the projection method, on the other hand. Many topics are dealt with in the book, and in this way one has various studies on density functional theory, wave function-based methods, correlation ground-state wavefunctions, quasiparticle excitations, stronfly correlated electrons, transition-metal (oxides or not), heavy quasiparticles, exitations with fractional charges and superconductivity. This is a book of physics.
