The volume under review are the proceedings of a commemorate symposium at the Universite libre de Bruxelles on 12 and 13 May, 2006. Father Henri Bosmans sj. was the author of more than 300 publications related to the history of mathematics. He was the first who studied in depth the sixteenth-century algebra (Peletier, Nunes and others). His main contribution seems to be the systematic study of Simon Stevin's work.
