Point availability of a warm stand-by system (English)
0 references
An operative unit with constant failure rate and a warm stand-by component with smaller constant failure rate are considered with two attached repairmen which are specialized: One repairman can repair only units which are broken down in operating status, the other repairmen can repair only units which are broken down in stand-by mode. Repair time distributions are general with finite mean. The paper provides a transient analysis of a Markov model which uses supplemented variable techniques to obtain the memoryless property. Starting from the Kolmogorov forward equations the author provides transform expressions for the transient point availability that both components are up. Numerical examples are given.
