New optimal iterative methods in solving nonlinear equations (English)

This article is concerned with a numerical solution of nonlinear scalar equations by multi-point iterations. A general three-step eighth-order class of second derivative-order methods is presented, which is in fact a generalization of the three-point family of methods given by \textit{Y. H. Geum} and \textit{Y. I. Kim} [Appl. Math. Lett. 24, No. 6, 929--935 (2011; Zbl 1215.65092)]. Analysis of convergence is studied and numerical examples are taken into account to support the new results of the paper.
