This paper contains no new result. It is only observed that, since it is known that the Krull dimension exists exactly for scattered partially ordered sets, and since the derived length of a topological space is defined exactly for scattered spaces, the result of \textit{M. W. Mislove} [Houston J. Math. 11, 559--573 (1985; Zbl 0595.06011)] can be stated in terms of existence of the Krull dimension and the derived length.
