This second edition contains some light revisions, but mainly enlarges the first one (see the review of the first edition [Berlin: Walter de Gruyter (2010; Zbl 1205.00021)]) by new sections on philosophical aspects of the applicability of mathematics (\S 3.4) and truth and provability (\S 5.5), a more detailed discussion of non-standard analysis in (\S 3.3), and a newly written, more extensive closing section \textit{Review} (\S 6).
