Sound scattering in water containing a micro-inhomogeneity is characterized by a scattering coefficient. A general formula which allows to calculate the biomass distribution on the ground of experimental data is proposed in the framework of two possible distributions -- the power dependence and the Gaussian one. An important parameter for the calculations is the characteristic size of the inhomogeneities (here, the typical size of zooplankton).
