    This publication is devoted to life and work of Emil Weyr (1848-94), an outstanding Czech mathematician, who devoted himself especially to geometry (projective, descriptive, algebraic).NEWLINENEWLINE The first part of the book contains a detailed biography, a list of Weyr's publications, references to other works concerning Emil Weyr, and memoirs of Emil's son František.NEWLINENEWLINE The second part is a transcription of Weyr's diary written during his stay in Italy in the academic year 1870-71. Weyr describes his meetings with Italian mathematicians (Cremona, Casorati, Dini) and the atmosphere of the cities he visited, giving a colourful picture of Italy in the second half of the 19th century. Four letters written to Weyr's mother from Italy are also included.NEWLINENEWLINE The last part consists of reproductions of various of Weyr's handwritings, title pages of his works, and also photographs and engravings of places related to the Italian stay.NEWLINENEWLINE A biography of Emil's brother was published in the book [\textit{J.
