Emil Weyr and his stay in Italy in the year of 1870/71 (Q2904635)

This publication is devoted to life and work of Emil Weyr (1848-94), an outstanding Czech mathematician, who devoted himself especially to geometry (projective, descriptive, algebraic).NEWLINENEWLINE The first part of the book contains a detailed biography, a list of Weyr's publications, references to other works concerning Emil Weyr, and memoirs of Emil's son František.NEWLINENEWLINE The second part is a transcription of Weyr's diary written during his stay in Italy in the academic year 1870-71. Weyr describes his meetings with Italian mathematicians (Cremona, Casorati, Dini) and the atmosphere of the cities he visited, giving a colourful picture of Italy in the second half of the 19th century.
