The article is a review on investigations of the spectral radius of transfer operators investigations. The operators whose spectral analysis is of prime importance in dynamical systems theory are {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize}\item[a)] the shift operators, that is the operators of the forms \(T_{\alpha} f(x):=f(\alpha (x))\), \(f\in F(X)\), where \(F\) is a certain functional space, \item[b)] weighted shift operators \(aT_{\alpha} :=a(x)f(\alpha (x)), f\in F(X)\), \item[c)] transfer operators on \(X\) having the form \(Af(x):=\Sigma_{y\in \alpha^{-1} (x)} \psi (y) f(y)\), where \(\psi \in C(x)\) is fixed.\end{itemize}}NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1237.37004].
