The present paper gives an overview about algebraically special solutions of the Einstein field equation in higher dimensions. It generalizes the analogous work for five dimensions, see [the author et al., Classical Quantum Gravity 30, No. 5, 055004, 21 p. (2013; Zbl 1263.83054)].NEWLINENEWLINEThe main methods applied are the principal null directions of the Weyl tensor, the Goldberg-Sachs theorem and the Newman-Penrose formalism.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1241.83007].
