The author studies level curves of the angle function of a \(3\times3\) PDS (positive definite symmetric) matrix and uses it to give a geometric proof of the partial solution to the problem when two PDS matrices have eigenvalues in an increasing order. The author provides a more elaborate proof for the same and extends the result to any pair of two such commuting matrices.
