Cosmic secrets between wine casks -- geometric imaginations of Johannes Kepler (Q2912406)

The title of this contribution refers to two ``papers'' of Johannes Kepler. The first -- ``Mysterium Cosmographicum'' (1506) -- made him world famous. The second -- ``Doliometrie'' -- has to do with measure problems with wine casks. As the author maintains, both subjects are very suitable in a lecture series in education on history of mathematics. In Chapter 2 the author considers: a) the personal, religious and political environment in Kepler's days; b) the mathematics of his time; c) his view on the astronomy of his time. In Chapter 3 we find an essay on the devotional geometry in the Mysterium Cosmographicum. In Chapter 4 the author deals with the geometry at earth level featuring in the measures of casks. In Chapter 5 he states some remarks on didactics with respect to the notion of ``Anschauung'' in Kepler versus Galilei, etc.\dotsNEWLINENEWLINE It is the reviewer's opinion that this little German treatise deserves a translation into English, although it may not be easily accomplished.
