The authors obtain the exact solution for delay differential equations with continuous dependence on the initial conditions by an analytic approach. Also, they develop general necessary and sufficient conditions, which depend only on the parameters of the system, for the existence of a delay-induced instability in systems of two or three first-order delay differential equations.
