The max-type difference equation NEWLINE\[NEWLINEx_{n+1}=\max\left\{\frac{A}{x_n},x_{n-k}\right\}, \quad n=0,1,\dots,NEWLINE\]NEWLINE is studied. A positive answer to the conjecture proposed by \textit{E. M. Elsayed} and \textit{S. Stević} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 71, No. 3--4, A, 910--922 (2009; Zbl 1169.39003)] is given.
