Stochastic discrete-time age-of-infection epidemic models (English)

This paper introduces a stochastic discrete-time age-of-infection model. A deterministic version of this model is derived as the limit of the stochastic model when the population is infinite. A final-size equation giving the attack rate of an epidemic, in terms of the basic reproductive number, is provided for the deterministic model. The author also derives an explicit likelihood function for the stochastic model, enabling a systematic procedure for fitting parameters to real incidence data.
