Fat handles and phase portraits of non singular Morse-Smale flows on \(S^3\) with unknotted saddle orbits (English)

The authors consider the non-singular Morse-Smale flows (NMS) with unknotted and unlinked saddle orbits. In terms of the six operations for Hopf links due to \textit{M. Wada} [J. Math. Soc. Japan 41, No. 3, 405--413 (1989; Zbl 0672.58042)] these flows are characterized only by the first three of these operations. Using this characterization, the authors build NMS flows by identifying fat round handles along their boundaries and also obtain the order in the saddle orbits when there are heteroclinic trajectories.
