The authors deal with the ``chain rule inequality'' NEWLINE\[NEWLINE T(f \circ g) \leqslant (Tf) \circ g \cdot Tg, \;\; f,g \in C^{1}(\mathbb{R}).NEWLINE\]NEWLINE which is satisfied by a non-degeneracy and a pointwise continuous operator \(T\). The form of all such maps is determined by using the theory of submultiplicative functions and locally defined operators.
