A restriction on shocks in collisionless plasma (English)

The principal result of this work is the proof that a steady state solution for collisionless shocks satisfying the Vlasov-Maxwell equations has strong restrictions on the difference between behaviours for \(x\to+\infty\) and \(x\to-\infty\) in the one-dimensional case. The corresponding theorem states that the magnetic fields and one of the electric field components must be equal for the upstream (\(x\leq 0\)) and the downstream (\(x>0\)) flows.
