The authors study two-sided estimates for continuously differentiable coordinate splines of second order and provide sufficient conditions for them to be nonnegative. The obtained conditions are satisfied on a sufficiently fine locally quasi-equidistant grid for coordinate minimal \(B_{\varphi}\)-splines. But the obtained conditions are not clearly satisfied in the case of trigonometric \(B_{\varphi}\)-splines.
