In the paper under review, the authors give a complete solution of a problem in submanifold theory posed and partially solved by \textit{P. Samuel} [Am. J. Math. 69, 421--446 (1947; Zbl 0035.23702)]. They determine all pairs of immersions \(f,g:M^{n}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{N}\) that have the same Gauss map and induce conformal metrics on the manifold \(M^{n}\).
