The main result of the paper under review is the computation, for the quintic threefold, of the monodromies of the solutions of the Picard-Fuchs equation around the singular points of the moduli space of the mirror. A connection between some of the constants of the corresponding asymptotic expansions and a Dirichlet \(L\)-function is also made.NEWLINENEWLINEThe reader should be aware that this paper uses quite a lot of vocabulary coming from theoretical physics. However, the results, and most of the motivations, should still be intelligible to a mathematician.
