The author obtains results concerning existence and stability of solutions of a fourth order semi-linear Dirichlet problem where both the coefficients of the differential operator and the nonlinear term depend on a numerical parameter. A dual variational method is used for this purpose. An example is provided to illustrate the results obtained. The present work is an improvement of a previous work of the author [Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Math. Sci. 118, No. 4, 627--635 (2008; Zbl 1201.34035)].
