For uncertain dynamical control systems, the computation of robust feedback controllers is treated. Here, the uncertainty is described by means of a parametric model involving a parameter vector lying in a given fixed set, mostly a multidimensional interval. For the computation of robust designs minimizing or restricting certain performance criteria, mainly design methods based on stochastic search procedures are taken into account. After an introduction into the basic problem and introducing corresponding notions in Chapter 1, the book contains the following further chapters: Chapter 2 ``Signal and System Norms'', Chapter 3 ``Optimization in Control Theory'', Chapter 4 ``Stochastic Optimization Methods'' (here, \textit{stochastic search methods} are meant), Chapter 5 ``Heuristic Kalman Algorithm'', Chapter 6 ``Uncertain Systems and Robustness'', Chapter 7 ``\(H_{\infty}\) Design of Structured Controllers'', Chapter 8 ``\(H_2\) and Mixed \(H_2/H_{\infty}\) Design of Structured Controllers'', Chapter 9 ``Nonlinear Structured Control via the Multi-model Approach'', Chapter 10 ``Conclusions''. Design examples are given in Chapters 7--9. Moreover, the book contains many references and an index.
