The author extends the notion of a max-plus algebra by introducing quasi-max-plus algebras. He studies periodicity and eigenvalues of matrices over these more general algebras and also generalizes a result of \textit{M. Gavalec} [Linear Algebra Appl. 307, No. 1--3, 167--182 (2000; Zbl 0998.15020)].
