The work considers a compactly supported solution of a functional-differential equation and some spaces of linear combinations of the shifts of this solution; the approximation properties of these spaces are of interest in the theory of the generalized Taylor series. The main result shows that these spaces are asymptotically extremal for approximating functions from the classes \(\widetilde W_2^r\) in the \(L_2\) norm.
