In this paper, the authors extend a classical result of \textit{C. Apostol} [Mich. Math. J. 32, 279--294 (1985; Zbl 0613.47008)] concerning the reduced minimum modulus of bounded linear operators acting in Hilbert spaces to the case of linear relations. It is also shown the usefulness of the reduced minimum modulus as an instrument for studying the spectrum of linear relations in Hilbert spaces.
