Let \(M\) be any quasiprojective subvariety of the moduli space of polarized Kähler manifolds. The main result of this paper is that any Chern-Weil form of the Hodge bundle over \(M\) has finite integral, which computes the corresponding Chern number. As an application, the authors prove a version of the Gauss-Bonnet-Chern theorem for the Weil-Petersson metric on the moduli space of Calabi-Yau manifolds.
