Effects of the electromagnetic radiation reaction on the collective behavior of charged matter interacting with intense laser fields is re-visited. It is shown that the entropy rate of a bunch of non-relativistic electrons under the influence of its radiation reaction field is positive. Relativistic considerations show that this is not guaranteed.
