Durch Beispiele verschiedenster Art werden dem Leser/der Leserin die grundlegendsten Komponenten der Stochastik -- Zufall, Statistik, Wahrscheinlichkeitsrechnung, Wahrscheinlichkeitsmodelle -- in 17 Kapiteln nahegebracht. Dabei unterstützen einige Grafiken in anschaulicher Weise das Verständnis. Die geschichtlichen Einwürfe und Verbindungen machen den Text leicht lesbar, sodass ein kurzweiliges Lehrbuch entstanden ist.
