\textit{W. Desch}, \textit{W. Schappacher} and \textit{G. F. Webb} [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 17, No. 4, 793--819 (1997; Zbl 0910.47033)] introduced and studied the notion of chaos for strongly continuous semigroups of bounded linear operators in Banach spaces, giving in particular a sufficient condition in terms of spectral properties of the infinitesimal generator. Here the criterion is applied to study the dynamics of a modified heat group semigroup generated by perturbations of the Jacobi Laplacian with a multiple of the identity on \(L^p\) spaces.
