The authors study a relativistic heat equation as a simplified version of a mathematical model for transport of morphogens in biological systems. Existence and uniqueness of so called ``entropy solutions'' are proved for the associated boundary-initial value problem. Similar to other flux-limited diffusion systems, the problem exhibits more hyperbolic than parabolic behavior. Consequently, the solution techniques utilized combine methods used for parabolic and hyperbolic problems.
