Stability and monotonicity of a conservative finite difference scheme approximating an initial-boundary value problem for a quasilinear equation are analysed. Special conditions are imposed on the input data. A priori estimates are given and it is shown that according to the properties of the input data higher derivatives may blow up in finite time.
