The authors consider a linear ordinary differential equation which represents a simplified model of the carbon in the soil. Firstly, they investigate the asymptotic behavior of the solution of the ordinary differential equation. Secondly, the previous results are extended to a classical heat non-homogeneous equation. Thirdly, they consider the connection with an analytic semi-group associated to the ordinary differential equation. Finally, some numerical examples are given.
