This monograph describes how to apply the upper bound theorem to find the limit load for welded structures with cracks. The presentation contains introductory material and advanced developments, and is divided into six chapters. Chapter 1 presents the upper bound theorems for rigid perfect plastic materials, with complete proofs of the theorems. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 are devoted to some specific topics such as the tension, and the solutions presented here are clearly demonstrated. Chapter 5 develops the theory of pure bending for highly under-matched panels under plane strain conditions. The final Chapter 6 discusses miscellaneous topics related to the subject.
