Convergence properties of splitting methods for inhomogeneous evolution equations are studied in the framework of abstract Banach spaces of maximal dissipative operators. In particular, parabolic problems are studied with their spatial discretisations. The Lie-splitting and the trapezoidal splitting are shown to be first- and second-order accurate, respectively. Numerical results are given.
