Artin-Wraith gluening and locally closed inclusions in double categories are introduced. With appropriate assumptions, there is shown that locally closed inclusions are exponentiable and the exponentials are constructed via Artin-Wraith gluening. Applications to locales, toposes, topological spaces, categories, and posets are given.
