A Parseval frame in a Hilbert space is a set of vectors which verifies the Parseval identity. If the vectors of a Parseval frame are multiplied by the same strictly positive scalar, we have the notion of tight frame. A tight frame is said to be a prime frame if no proper subset of its vectors is a tight frame for the same space. The authors prove some interesting properties of this new class of frames. Concrete remarkable examples are given.
