Summary: We prove that one system of coupled KdV equations, claimed by \textit{R. Hirota} et al. [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 288, No. 1, 326--348 (2003; Zbl 1055.35100)] to pass the Painlevé test for integrability, actually fails the test at the highest resonance of the generic branch and therefore must be nonintegrable.
