This article focuses on the approximate solutions to strongly elliptic pseudo-differential equations on the unit sphere arising in geodesy by means of spherical basis functions. Precisely, the approximate solutions are found by the Galerkin and the collocation method. Additionally, a unified error analysis is given for both methods.
